East Brighton Golf Club

East Brighton is a down-land course less than a mile inland with spectacular coastal views. At 6,346 yards and with a par of 72, East Brighton presents a genuine challenge for golfers of all handicaps, whilst remaining absolutely 'fair'. Generous fairways and no impossible carries, virtually guarantee an enjoyable round even if the occasional disaster strikes.

For example, from the fifth tee, the first-time visitor peering down into a valley at the distant green, could be excused for thinking they are facing a par six! The hole, with 'out-of-bounds' down its entire right hand length, and fairway bunker to catch the errant second shot, is probably the most intimidating looking hole on the golf course. It is amazing, however, just how many birdies are scored on this hole.

On the back nine, all the way back to the Clubhouse, one can enjoy spectacular coastal views of the English Channel, from Beachy Head to the east and Selsey Bill to the west. On a clear day, a silhouette of the Isle of Wight can be seen on the western horizon to add to the already magnificent sea views.

One particular important feature of the course is that drainage is very good because it is built on chalk, making it playable throughout the year, seldom closing or having to use temporary greens and tees.
