Gog Magog Golf Course
Shelford Bottom, Cambridge, CB22 3AB
The Gog Magog Golf Club, established in 1901, has long been the favourite Cambridge golf course for top class amateur events with the special appeal of two championship quality golf courses, the Old Course and the newer Wandlebury Course.
Set in the rolling East Anglia countryside amongst the legendary Gog Magog hills, this Cambridge golf club affords superb all year round golf facilities with stunning views over Cambridge and across the fens of East Anglia to the majestic Ely Cathedral.
Old Course.
At 6398 Yards off the whites, the Old Course is more a test of accuracy than strength, although stamina is a useful asset as you climb the hills. Reaching the green in regulation is seldom a guarantee of a Par as a downhill putt when the greens are dry can be an unnerving experience. An Old Course Par 3 is not always an easy scoring opportunity as they tend to have high stroke indices.
Wandlebury Course.
Longer at 6735 yards, but perhaps less intimidating than the Old Course, at least while the trees are maturing, the Wandlebury presents more opportunities for using your fairway woods, although use of your Sand Wedge is unlikely to correspondingly diminish. The body of the course lies alongside the Wandlebury nature reserve looking over open down land to the east.
The ambiance of the Club House, with its excellent dining facilities and one of the best golf practice amenities in the Cambridge area, ensures a truly memorable and enjoyable golf experience for the discerning visitor.
