The course lies on gently sloping land with spectacular views over the Dee Estuary and the Welsh Hills. The broad sweep takes in the suspension bridge near Connah's Quay, the Clwyd range including Moel Famau, Point of Ayr and Hillbre Islands.
There are many difficult hazards to negotiate on the course - both natural and man-made - which need careful consideration if you are to score well. Wildlife enthusiasts will also enjoy the presence of wild birds which flock over the course regularly given its proximity to water.
