Mount Murray Golf Club Santon, Isle of Man, IM4 2HT
The Mount Murray course skilfully incorporates the natural features of Manx hedging, streams and lakes to provide an enjoyable round for golfers of all standards.
The course is a real challenge, measuring 6361 yards with six par 3s, five par 5s and the rest being par 4s. However, variable teeing allows the par 71 course to play to a shorter length, offering a fairer challenge to the middle and high handicap golfer.
The 522 yard par 5 opening hole is a great start to the golf course, with water hazards positioned to catch out most stray shots. Beware of the stream and lanes to the right of the par 4 second hole. There are a host of challenging par 3s on the opening nine holes. The stunning ninth hole is a favourite with most golfers and at 180 yards it gives you a demanding shot over the lake to a large green in front of the magnificent clubhouse.
The back nine starts with a pleasant downhill par 4, followed by a steady climb from the 11th tee to the 15th green. The 16th, being 595 yards in length and the longest hole on the course, provides a breathtaking view across to Douglas in the east and down to the south coast of the Island.
