Newington Hotel, York
The Aldwark Manor golf course is set in 120 acres of pleasant parkland in the Vale of York, surrounding its own 19th century Manor House Hotel. From the seventh green at Forest of Galtres, York Minster is visible to the south, and to the north, 20 miles away, one can see the White Horse of Kilburn on the Hambleton Hills. All of the greens have been constructed to the high and demanding specification of the U.S. Golf Association in order to create putting surfaces capable of all year round play. Forest Park is an easy walking parkland course, with tree lined fairways and the Old Foss Beck which creates a natural hazard on many of the holes.
The Newington Hotel sits proud aside the "Royal Approach", the historical entrance route to medieval York. A relaxed ambience pervades throughout the cosy bar and lounges and the intimate cellar restaurant serves a style of cookery that uses traditional English fare presented with a hint of modernity.
