Parkstone Golf Club

49a Links Road, Poole, Dorset, BH14 9QS

Voted No. 111 in the Golf Monthly/HSBC
Top 120 UK Course Rankings - November 2006

Designed in 1909 by Willie Park Junior, twice Open champion in the late 1880s, the course was substantially enlarged and re-designed in 1937 by James Braid, the famous golf course architect and five-times Open champion. The result of this highly imaginative reconstruction was an intriguing and varied test of golf set amongst pines and heather-fringed fairways where every hole presents a different challenge.

Curiously, the course was one of the first in the country to install an automatic irrigation system which provides good drainage and dry greens during the winter season, so all year playability is virtually guaranteed.

A traditional heathland course, the fairways are lined with wild heather - notoriously difficult to play from should your shot end up amongst it - and large pine trees are a further striking yet imposing obstacle. With panoramic views over Poole Harbour in Dorset, it is a truly beautiful course to play.
