Pengethley Manor Hotel, Nr Ross on Wye
Set in beautiful Herefordshire countryside, alongside the River Wye, the Belmont course enjoys a lovely parkland setting with views of the Black Mountains to the West and Hereford to the East with the Malvern Hills beyond. A recent golf publication article said that "if you find Gleneagles too expensive, do the next best thing and treat yourself to a day at the Herefordshire". Ross-on-Wye is a very scenic and quite undulating woodland type golf course, its fairways bordered by a rich variety of silver birch trees, oaks and pines: you can play a round here and only rarely see another group of golfers so self-contained are the holes.
The Pengethley Manor has 25 Standard and Superior en-suite guest rooms which all offer a full range of in-room facilities and services such as colour TV, direct-dial telephone and a tea and coffee making tray and a full room service menu. Each has been individually decorated and furnished. Many of the rooms are furnished with fine period pieces and some of the Superior rooms have four poster beds and others a spa bath. The warmth and grandeur of the Georgian Restaurant is only exceeded by the astonishingly high standard of cuisine, for which the hotel has won many accolades, and the fine wines, some of which are produced in their own Vineyard.
