There are 27 holes available at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club and every single one of them is a cracker. Made up of a main 18-hole course, which is recognised as a good golfing challenge to all types of golfer, and a nine-hole course that weaves tantalisingly in and out of Salisbury Racecourse, this is a golfing hotspot of the very highest order. The course at High Post is located on the southern reaches of Salisbury Plain and sits on the chalk downland that Wiltshire is famous for. Free draining, the course is playable year round with no temporary tees or greens. The quality of the turf is unsurpassed and although not long by modern standards, the layout of four par threes, two par fives and twelve par fours provides a very good test of golf. Described as "Wiltshire's little Wentworth", Tidworth Garrison is home to a superb downland course, complete with fine tree-lined fairways and quality undulating greens. The course boasts fine scenic views over the Salisbury Plain and beyond and is a quite beautiful setting in which to enjoy a game.
Originally a 13th Century Coach Inn in the city of Salisbury, The Rose and Crown prides itself on traditional hospitality. Set on the banks of the River Avon and with marvellous views of Salisbury cathedral, it is perfect for all stays. Public areas are cosy and well furnished, the two bars having log fires. The view has remained unchanged since the days when Constable painted his famous masterpiece. The Oak Bar is an ideal place for a quiet and relaxing drink. Alternatively if you would like a light lunch or a livelier atmosphere, you can try the Avon Bar with its wide selection of bar meals and drinks. The property offers excellent accommodation with 28 well appointed bedrooms that are fully equipped.
