Royal Duchy Hotel, Falmouth
For sheer golfing drama, The Carlyon Bay Golf Course has few peers. On first acquaintance it is easy to be lulled into a false sense of security by the beauty of the setting, but negotiating the course successfully demands concentration and care. Certainly, the views from the course across St. Austell Bay are among the finest anywhere, particularly from the ninth green, where an approach shot remotely right will plummet over the cliff edge. Mullion Golf Club was included in the top ten golf courses in the U.K. by The Independent (AUG 2002). It is the most southerly course in England and the only one on the Lizard peninsula. The course has excellent greens and great views. Falmouth Golf Club is a testing par 71 which winds its way along the cliff tops and occupies possibly one of the most spectacular sites on which to locate a golf course. The well-established course boasts probably the best greens in Cornwall and the SouthWest.
Firmly established as Falmouth's premier and only four star hotel, The Royal Duchy is situated in a prime sea front location, with dramatic views across the bay. Dining at the Royal Duchy is one of the Hotel's greatest pleasures. An established team of top chefs has earned the hotel no less than 2 AA Rosettes for cuisine. The Hotel's delightful bedrooms are well appointed, each with private bathroom en-suite, colour satellite TV, radio, direct dial telephone and a lift provides easy access to all floors. A splendid indoor pool shares the Hotel's leisure complex with a sauna as well as snooker and table tennis.
