Golf Holidays in Devon - Royal & Fortescue Hotel

Royal & Fortescue Hotel, Barnstaple

The Royal North Devon Golf Club is the oldest Links Course in England. The golf course is a challenging one, situated on the rugged North Devon coast, where its exposed position, multitudes of spiky rushes, naturally formed grassy mounds and oft deep bunkers pose a tough round. Don't be deceived by the relative flatness, as once on the course the sight of these great sea rushes, huge timber fronted bunkers, burns and ditches present a formidable test for all golfers. Ilfracombe Golf Club is an interesting and testing course that offers unsurpassed views over sea and moors. This 18 hole course is well maintained and always in good condition. On high ground between the Taw and Mole valleys, Highbullen is an undulating parkland course, set amongst mature specimen trees and water hazards, which has been constructed to the highest standards, including U.G.G.A. specification greens.

Formerly a coaching inn, The Royal & Fortescue Hotel is an historic and traditional market town hotel, earning its present title after patronage by the late King Edward VII. Situated in the town centre, the Hotel offers all modern facilities while retaining its original charm and character.
