Saunton Sands Hotel, Braunton
There are two 18 hole courses at Saunton and both are traditional links courses. The East is the recognised Championship course, whereas the West, although shorter in many ways, offers a more exacting test of golf. The quality of the East Course has long been recognised and it is often home to the most prestigious amateur championships. It is a true links course with the holes settling in between the dunes with little or no assistance from man. The West Course is now also a superb links course, equal in quality to that of the East but having a character of its own and demanding accuracy, with many ditches just waiting to catch the errant shot.
Perched high on a cliff with miles of golden sands at its feet, The Saunton Sands Hotel was always going to be something truly special. This is evident from the moment you first take in the views, stretching along the dramatic coastline and across the fascinating World Heritage Site at Braunton Burrows. These first impressions are echoed the moment you step inside and the Saunton Sands experience unfolds; the beauty of the setting is more than matched by the standards of accommodation, the first class facilities and the outstanding cuisine.
