Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Club The Leas, Kingsdown, Deal, Kent, CT14 8EP
This lovely course, situated on the White Cliffs of Dover, has spectacular views across the channel to the French coast. The course, designed by James Braid and opened in 1909, rolls across the downland and provides a good test of golf.
During the Second World War the course was closed and covered in a mass of barbed wire and defensive positions. It was re-opened in 1948 after being restored to its former glory. John Lawrie, a past Walker Cup selector, was the architect given the task of increasing the overall length to its present day.
The signature hole is the difficult par 4 seventh, the Sea Hole. Played towards the sea, the fairway sweeps down towards the White Cliffs and the busy shipping lanes of the straits of Dover.
With an abundance of flora and fauna as well as magnificent views, you will find much to enjoy on this stunning golf course. The clubhouse offers a warm welcome where panoramic views of sea and downland can be enjoyed from the bar, restaurant and patio.
