Worlebury Golf Club Monks Hill, Worlebury, Weston super Mare, Somerset, BS22 9SX
Found just on the outskirts of Weston-Super-Mare, right at the lip of Worlebury Hill, lies Worlebury Golf Club. Its course is an absolute pleasure to play, and one that golfing fanatics should be queuing up to enjoy.
This traditional parkland course offers all the challenges of golf in a hilly terrain - with an excellent mix of holes providing a stiff challenge to both low and high handicappers. There are a number of demanding holes but pick of the bunch is the 448 yard 1st. It takes a good drive off the tee to give you a chance of paring the hole since the green is elevated with a sharp drop on the left hand side and an intimidating bank to the right - as well as bunkers to the back and side. Anything other than a decent tee shot and your round is off to a difficult start.
The 269 yard short par 4 might help make up for this tough start but overall the course is a tight one with lots of out-of-bounds areas and even though there are no water hazards to worry about, there is one further thing that you will have to overcome - the blustery wind.
The course further benefits from some sensational views across the Severn Estuary and out towards Wales. It really is a picturesque delight that is stern enough to excite those who like to be challenged by a course, without intimidating those that are perhaps less proficient golfers.
