Golfing holidays and golf breaks in Normandy, France.
Deauville Golf Club
Rated amongst France's top 20 prettiest & most established courses, the Golf Barriere of Deauville has always been the club to play in Normandy.
With manicured fairways and beautiful greens, the golf course is in great condition all year round and the site is always maintained to very high standards.
Set on the hills of Mont Canisy, the Golf Barriere of Deauville has thought of everything to host international competitions and welcome foreign visitors; an elegant setting, lots of vegetation and beautifully designed fairways. The Golf Club has 27 holes. The original 18 hole course (the red and white nine hole courses) was built by Tom Simpson in 1929.
The Golf Barriere of Deauville is an exceptional place to include on your Normandy itinerary; a beautiful technical layout, a pretty mix of undulating fairways and a variety of holes added to the panoramic views over Deauville and the Channel but also on holes 14 and 15, with views over the Touques & Auge valley.
Technically speaking this course requires accuracy and strength with two par 4's of 400m and several heavily bunkered par 3's on the front nine. The back nine are not easy neither; every hole can reveal the players weaknesses. But playing the Golf Barriere of Deauville, in any case, is a treat to remember.
The other nine hole course (the blue course) was designed in 1964 by Henry Cotton.
