Recommended golf holidays to Northern France.
The Manoir Hotel, Le Touquet, Northern France
The two courses at Le Touquet are arguably the most requested in the whole of France. Le Touquet La Mer is the more favoured of the two and is now truly back to its best after several years of design and irrigation work. It is indeed a superb course, a true mix of links and parkland based on the original Harry Colt design in the 1920's. The course is fairly generous for wayward drives but accurate approach shots are a must. The views from the course are dramatic and spectacular. Le Touquet La Foret, the sister course of La Mer, is a flatter course, but very pretty and most enjoyable. The course has been cut through a fabulous pine forest and is wide enough to allow decent scoring. La Foret has also benefited from irrigation and design work. The 11th and 15th are particular treats.
Hardelot Les Pins Golf course is laid out in a beautiful forest and epitomizes a style which has been gratefully inherited by several generations of golfers. Hardelot Les Dunes Golf course is the most popular golf course in Northern France. Standing on the the daunting first tee is only a foretaste of what is to come. Fairways rise and fall through the dunes and recent work has eliminated some of the few blind shots.
The Golf Hotel Le Manoir has become arguably the leading "golf hotel" in France. With 42 comfortable bedrooms, 32 in the Manoir and 10 in the adjacent bungalows, relaxing public rooms, a fine restaurant and excellent facilities, it is a repeat choice for many golfers each year. The Hotel is also located just 100 yards from Le Touquet Golf Club.

The Les Cedres Hotel, Camiers, Nr Le Touquet, N. France
On Day 1 you play at Wimereux, which is a great test of links golf. The course lies amidst rugged, natural terrain and has arguably the toughest stretch of holes on the coast - from the downhill par three 2nd to the par 5 7th facing the sea. The greens are best approached with 'bump and runs' and you can take the driver off most of the tees. Not a course for the faint hearted! Le Touquet and Hardelot have been described above, but Day 3 will take you to one of the other great courses in Northern France, Belle Dune. Designed by an Italian, built by the French and played by everyone. Every hole is different from the previous, the 13th hole in particular is one to make of. There aren't many bunkers to contend with, but an abundance of gorse and links style pot-bunkers will ensure that your journey around the 18 holes if a far from straight forward one!
The Hotel du Parc in Hardelot and virtually all of the decent hotels in Le Touquet are fairly pricey to stay in. In order to provide an Itinerary that features high quality golf, without putting too much of a stain on the finances one needs to stay in the one of villages between Hardelot and Le Touquet. The Les Cedres Hotel in Camier is as a good a choice as any. A friendly hotel with 27 en-suite bedrooms and recently refurbished. The hotel restaurant is worth a visit alone with its enlarged and restyled bar.
