Set between the valleys of the Loire and the Dordogne, the delightful, unspoiled countryside of Poitou Charentes offers the setting for some seriously challenging courses. Most have a good number of water hazards incorporated, so accuracy is even more important than usual. Two of our specially chosen courses are close to the coast, while a further four are inland around the area of the regional capital, Poitiers. Hotels are all 3-star and well situated for easy access to the golf, plus a variety of other local attractions.
With excellent roads to get you there, all courses in Poitou Charentes are within a comfortable drive of our ports. For instance, arrive in St Malo on an overnight sailing and you could be in La Rochelle in time for lunch. This lovely harbour town is the foremost yachting centre in western France and offers plenty of diversions for non-golfers, as does the lively beach resort of Royan further down the coast.
Poitiers is one of France's very oldest cities with a baptistery dating all the way back to the 4th century. By contrast, just outside the city you'll find Futuroscope, a fantastic high-tech theme park devoted to the cinema and moving image. Whilst in Poitou Charentes you may also like to visit the medieval town of Cognac. And yes, there are free distillery tours if you want to see how the fabled nectar is produced.
