Golf at Fairmont St Andrews - Kittocks Course

Kittocks Course, Fairmont St Andrews

The Kittocks Course is a truly magnificent 72 par, 7,049 yard championship course that sweeps its way along the rugged seaside landscape.

This, as yet, undiscovered gem, begins with an opportunity to build your score providing you can negotiate the treacherous bunkers and strategically designed water features that tightly border the well-manicured fairways. Then it is onto the par 4, 4th where the approach to the green signals the beginning of the roller coaster style ride, up, over and around the rugged wilderness of Kittocks Den. These ridge holes open up to the panorama of the white water crashing on the rocky shoreline below and over the body of the North sea to the Grampian mountains which dominate the horizon. The ever-changing ambience of this vast and spectacular view heightens the experience for the golfer.

Leading on to the par 4, 7th, which hugs the natural curve of the coastline, down to the heavily protected, suspended green. The golfer is continually taunted by the course, which offers debate as to whether to play safe or take a risk. At the par 4, 11th you are faced with a choice, do you veer to the tight fairway on the right or the wider, longer and safer option on the left? The excitement continues to mount as the homeward stretch lies ahead, the signature 17th, is a tricky par 4 with out of bounds running parallel with the coastal trail down the right hand side before cutting sharply across in front of the green. With strong winds, and from its exposed position, this hole can make or break your score.

The Kittocks is a completely unrivalled course, providing unique characteristics and requiring a well-devised strategy of play. An optional buggy course, and for good reason being one of the longest courses in the UK today, a must play for any visitor to the area.
