The Rosslare Great Southern Hotel
Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford, Ireland
Set in a beautiful location beside St. Helen's Bay, 14 holes of the course overlook the coast and Tuskar lighthouse. It is a design, by Philip Walton, which takes full advantage of the onshore winds and gently sloping rural land. There are nine water features and 5,000 tress, as well as strategically-placed bunkers. Rosslare provides an excellent test of golf on a championship links beside the Irish Sea. Fairways, tees and greens are watered, giving an enjoyable playing surface in both summer and winter. Courtown is an interesting layout although situated near the sea, is not a links. A well designed pattern of planted trees makes this course a fine test of golf.
As with Courtown, Wexford Golf Club is located close to the sea, without being a true links course as such. The course is in fact ideal for holiday golf, not too tough and with plenty of opportunities to sink those pars and birdies.
In Rosslare, a favourite resort, the Great Southern Hotel provides a warm welcome with traditional hospitality. The hotel is beautifully situated on a cliff top overlooking Rosslare Harbour. The hotel has a superb leisure centre and excellent food is available at their Mariner's Restaurant.
