Penina Golf Course
Situated in the heart of the Algarve, the championship course at Penina is considered the most brilliant project of Sir Henry Cotton. This was also the first golf course to be built in the Algarve, back in 1966.
The Penina Championship Course has several bunkers, almost four hundred thousand trees, plenty of water with wide greens and a vast tee area, making this a real championship course.
Over the years the 350,000 trees Sir Henry planted have grown to turn Penina into magnificent woodland. With the trees came an array of local wildlife and today Penina is a stunningly beautiful and peaceful place and one of the great golf resorts in Europe.
It is a fairly flat parkland course with many bunkers, several lakes, spacious greens with vast tee areas, making this a real championship course. Penina is a demanding and historical course, which has been host to the Portuguese Open on several occasions. Long straight drives will find your ball in a good position and a notable feature on the back nine is the four par 5's.
