Quinta do Lago South Golf Course
The Quinta do Lago South course was designed by William Mitchell and inaugurated in 1974. It is situated in a truly international setting, synonymous with luxury and exclusivity, and has played host to seven Portugues Opens.
This course favours the long hitters, but it requires the skill to score well. Although the front and back nines are both anti-clockwise loops, the first nine favours a draw, while the second favours a fade from the tee.
As a result, the course allows the player to approach greens in very different ways. The most famous hole is the 15th with a 200 yard iron shot required over part of a lake to reach the green.
