Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Course

The Royal Golf Course at Vale do Lobo is one of the best known courses in the world, because of its famous Par 3 hole, which requires a shot of more than 200 metres over three spectacular cliffs.

The 6,175 metre long Royal Golf Course has championship tees, and is a lot more difficult than the Ocean Course. This is because of its more interrupted terrain, the amount of water and sand obstacles and its generally longer holes.

Opened in 1997 the Royal course combines 9 holes of the original layout and a brand new 9 designed by Rocky Roquemore. Established as one of the premier courses on the Algarve, its signature hole is the cliff top par 3 16th, quite simply breathtaking and a hole that every right minded golfer should want to take on.

Another highlight is the 9th hole, a par 3 whose green lies behind a lake. Water is also in play in the 6th, 16th and 17th holes.

What people say: "Thanks very much, we all had a fantastic time. Vale do Lobo was very nice, but we were very much put off by the incredibly high level of work that is going on. Extremely trying for there to be huge swathes of the course being ripped up, and worse for trucks and diggers storming around, reversing sirens going off, all as your trying to tee off.
