Vale do Lobo Ocean Golf Course
The Ocean Course, part of the Vale do Lobo resort, is located near the sea and offers a very agreeable game. Originally the course had 18 holes designed by Sir Henry Cotton, but in 1972 a further loop of nine holes was added. More recent work has given it another dimension : two 18 hole courses (The Ocean Course and the Royal Golf Course).
The fairways have a tendency to be narrow and accuracy is imperative when playing. The holes wander through pine trees with wonderful views of the sea between the homes lining the sides of the fairways. The front nine is gentle and enjoyable, with wide fairways, the back nine is tighter and more difficult. The 11th and 14th are two demanding par 4's and the par 3 15th is possibly the most scenic, running alongside the beach. Two par 5 holes in the final three demand concentration is kept to a maximum and ensure a great finish to an excellent course.
The Ocean Course is slightly easier than the Royal Course, but well worth playing.
