Best Western Scores Hotel
Situated a stones throw from the heart of the action, only a few yards from the historic first tee and eighteenth green of the legendary Old Course, the Best Western Scores Hotel commands magnificent views of St Andrews Bay and the historic clubhouse of the Royal and Ancient. Also within feet is the British Golf Museum. However for those with interests outside the world of golf, the centre of St Andrews, which represents a veritable treasure trove of Scottish heritage, is only a two minute walk away. The hotel itself is contained within two traditional town houses, which have formed part of the most famous landscape in the golfing world since 1880.
In recommending an Itinerary, one is always going to miss out someone's favourite, but we felt that playing one of the St Andrews Courses was a must.
Likewise a day at the Balcomie Links (Crail), where you will play the Balcomie Course and the Craighead Links. When playing Balcomie, several of the fairways wind alongside golden sandy bays and rocky outcrops of the Forth foreshore. In particular they come into play at the 2nd, the 4th and the fearsome 5th (Hell's Hole), where it's make your mind up to carry the beach or take the easy way around! As befits a classic links set-up, both courses have holes with their own character which makes for two fascinating rounds of golf.
To complete your Itinerary, you'll play Scotscraig. Established in 1817 and now regularly used as an Open Qualifying Course when the Open is played at St Andrews.
