The Dukes Course, St Andrews

The Dukes Course, St. Andrews

Craigtoun Park, St Andrews, Fife, KY16 8NS

Voted No. 100 - THE UK & IRELAND TOP 100 - Todays Golfers 2010

St Andrews is renowned worldwide as "The Home of Golf" with no less than 10 courses in the immediate area and more than 30 within a half-hour's drive. One of the more recent additions is the fantastic Duke's Course, owned by the world famous Old Course Hotel.

With a spectacular setting above St Andrews, Duke's is highly regarded as one of the finest heathland championship courses in the British Isles. Its style ranks alongside the great inland challenges which demand accuracy and inventive play as well as power golf. And with five separate tee positions at every hole, Duke's has the flexibility and challenge to appeal to golfers at every level.

Designed by Peter Thomson, five-times Open Champion of the 1950s and 1960s, The Duke's Course has more than benefited from Thomson's sympathetic approach to the majesty of the Scottish countryside. His philosophy is rooted firmly in the traditional style of British golf courses, particularly Scottish, based on the belief that golf is a game played not in the air but along the ground.

The Duke's Course was carefully planned and designed to complement the five classic links courses along the coastline and to enhance St Andrew's standing as the world mecca for golfers. Originally designed as the first heathland golf course in St Andrews, the Duke's has matured to offer a magnificent 18 holes in the delightful surrounding of Craigtoun Park, a spectacular location overlooking the historic university town and Fife's beautiful coastline.

The magnificent panoramic views coupled with an outstanding golf course, makes The Duke's a 'must play' on any golfing agenda.
