18-hole hillside course split into two levels by a steep hill. Very rewarding views of Galashiels and the surrounding Border countryside from the top of the course, and on the way back down to the clubhouse.
Don't be put off by the steep climb on the approach road to this course as on the course there are plenty of reasonably level lies that make for some excellent challenges.
Holes of note include the downhill par 3 1'st which calls for immediate accuracy off the tee with out of bounds down the left side and two bunkers guarding the green. The 3rd, a dog leg par 5 where one's drive must be middle to right of the fairway as serious trouble awaits for those who pull their tee shots.
There are, however, two precipitous climbs at the 10th and the 11th. From the 10th tee it is straight up the side of the hill and, if you're lucky the ball will stick where it lands or it may find itself back on the tee. The locals tend to tee high and let it fly! The views back over Galashiels, as you clamber onto the 10th green, make the ascent worthwhile.
If you suffer from vertigo, do as the locals often do and play a shortened circuit missing out the worst of the ascents.
