Gullane Golf Club - No.2 Course
West Links Road, Gullane, East Lothian, EH31 2BB
Gullane No.2 Course was built in 1898 and the first and last holes of the course are on the east side of the A198 road. The Course runs alongside No.1 for the first seven holes and then sweeps down to the nature reserve next to Aberlady Bay, before turning back towards the Visitors' Clubhouse.
While Muirfield may be the jewel in East Lothian's golfing crown, this is not far behind it, as many of those who have played here in the Open Championship qualifying over the years have testified.
It is links golf at its best, the difficulty factor being increased at some holes by their undulating nature. The No.2 course is a fine, challenging links in common with the other Gullane courses, and shares the same outlook and turf as Muirfield. One feature of the Course is its excellent short holes, particularly the 11th with its magnificent view and tricky club selection.
It is considered by many locals to be the equal of the more celebrated, and expensive, No.1 course and one that should be high up on the agenda of any East Lothian trip.
