Lochgreen Golf Club
Harling Drive, Troon, Ayrshire, KA10 6NE
Troon Lochgreen is a par 73 course at 6,822 yards. It's an upland links golf course that will test you all the way. Opening with a 473-yard par four it will either get your round up and running or put you right on the back foot. Either way, it's a memorable start.
The dogleg 16th hole sweeps to the right with punishing gorse and pines to negotiate and a fore green which is well guarded by a stand of strategically placed bunkers.
One of three municipal courses in a single setting in Troon, Lochgreen favours the long hitters. It has been used several times as a qualifying course for the Open Championship and has several testing holes which are reminiscent of Royal Troon. In 1962 Jack Nicklaus qualified at Lochgreen for his first Open at Royal Troon.
