La Canada Golf Club Ctra Guadiaro km 1, 11311 Guadiaro, Cadiz, Spain
The new nine holes at La Canada have been designed by the architect Dave Thomas. The designer of the second nine holes (previously the first nine) was Robert Trent Jones who also designed other neighbouring golf courses such as Valderrama Golf Club and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. It is the first municipal course on the Costa del Sol and is located high above Guadiaro (San Roque-Cadiz) a town that propositionally presents the highest number of amateurs in Spain.
The course offers excellent views, smooth hills, very well maintained greens, a variety of citrus trees and the glen on the 18th hole which lends its name to the golf course. It is very well maintained with a fine mixture of holes where the par 3's are impressive and particularly the seventeenth where you play over the water.
On arrival the large new clubhouse will impress you and there is ample parking. The clubhouse offers all the amenities with bar and restaurant facilities and large terrace area to enjoy the views. There are excellent changing facilities, pro shop and a large practice area with putting green. This is a course to be enjoyed and well worth a visit if you are in the area.
