Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club
Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club is an 18 hole championship links golf course, just 5 miles from the university town of Aberystwyth in the heart of Cardigan Bay.
Borth and Ynyslas claims to be the oldest course in Wales although Tenby Golf Club formed in 1890 with Borth forming five years later. But in the confines of the club's history lay claims that golf was, in fact, played on the course from 1885 onwards.
Borth is actually one of the founder members of the Welsh Golf Union so its attachment to the Welsh game is undisputed. Harry Colt made some design changes in the late 1940s and much of his work still survives. It is a traditional links course where the fairways overlap in select holes and where the wind is a constant factor.
Golf architect Donald Steele summed up Borth & Ynyslas as "a highly enjoyable holiday course with the capacity to challenge the best players". The club hosts many top ranking amateur events on the WGU calendar that is in itself testiment to its credentials and degree of difficulty.
