Fairwood Park Golf Club Blackhills Lane, Fairwood, Swansea, SA2 7JN
Everyone likes a golf course that lets you attack and Fairwood Park is certainly that type of course. Parkland in nature, it features nicely contoured and wide-open fairways that are rather appealing on the eye when you stand on the tee. It is a fairly flat course so don't expect to have any nasty uphill/downhill lies.
Founded in 1969 this long parkland course is located near Swansea Airport and covers 135 acres. A number of lakes have been introduced in recent years to catch errant balls and the club has also planted some 10, 000 trees to add even more spice.
Fairwood Park also has the kudos of being the only Championship status golf course in Swansea, on account of the fact that it is the only local one to have ever held any PGA ranked tournaments. The clubhouse will play host to any visitors and, interestingly, was an RAF hospital during World War II.
