Langland Bay Golf Club
Langland Bay Road, Mumbles, Swansea, SA3 4QR
Langland Bay is just one of several attractive courses in and around the Gower Peninsula that have a distinctive appeal to visitors. In Langland's case, the distinction stems from its magnificent views, the fact that it is so well kept and that it looks willing to be kind to the visiting golfer. However, Langland has a tradition of making you fight for every yard.
Small greens, plenty of bunkers and unwelcoming rough combine to ensure that you will have more to keep an eye on than the scenery. The finishing holes are particulaly difficult, starting with the short 16th that is called 'Death or Glory' because the alternative to hitting the tiny green is to be buried in bracken, or playing the second from the beach.
Even more fearsome, however, is the par four sixth which is uphill into the wind and credited with being the toughest in the area. Then again, you have pleasure of the eighth which runs along the side of Caswell Bay. After Langland you'll feel well tested but enjoyably so.
