Porthmadog Golf Club

Porthmadog Golf Club

Morfa Bychan, Porthmadog, Gwynedd, LL49 9UU

At 6400 yards Porthmadog is a real gem on the Llyn Peninsula and dates back to 1900 when James Braid designed the original course. It is a links course which contains some parkland holes that have been recently developed by introducing hillocks and bunkering.

Porthmadog is a course that will leave you begging for more when you walk off its 18th green. The front nine is very spacious and allows you to open your shoulders and have a go with the driver, but the back nine is a completely different story.

While the opening nine is parkland in nature, the back inward nine is distinctly links and poses its fair share of mesmerizing holes, made somewhat tougher when the wind picks up. The 13th, 14th and 15th are memorable holes.

With high dunes on one side and the sea on the other you may be forgiven for thinking you are playing a thoroughbred Scottish links.
